What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information Kernel collects through this website, what we do with it, and the choices you have. The website has no user accounts and takes no payments.

Information a client shares with us during a consulting engagement is handled under the written agreement for that engagement, not under this policy.

Information we collect

• The contact form: your name, email address, company, role, company size, the kind of engagement you are interested in, and your message.
• The Context Tax Score diagnostic: your email address, your headcount range, the range of AI tools in use, your answers to the questions, and the resulting profile.
• Email: anything you send us when you write to us directly.
• Analytics: which pages are visited, the site a visit came from, approximate location derived from IP address, and device and browser type. See the analytics section below.

How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and to talk with you about working together.
• To give you your diagnostic result and follow up with you about it. You can ask us to stop writing to you at any time.
• To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
• To meet legal obligations.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to distinguish one visitor from another and reports how the site is used. Because it sets cookies, we ask first: Google Analytics is only loaded if you accept it in the consent banner. If you decline, it is never loaded and it sets no cookies. We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and runs regardless of your choice. We do not use advertising or social media pixels, and we do not use analytics data to identify you personally.

You can change your cookie choice at any time. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google's opt-out browser add-on. The site also keeps one short-lived item in your browser's session storage to remember which service to highlight when you move between pages. It is not used for tracking and is gone when you close the tab.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. It is handled by the service providers that run the website and our office tools:

• Google: email, the spreadsheets where form and diagnostic submissions are stored, and Google Analytics.
• Vercel: website hosting and Vercel Web Analytics.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our rights. Information is processed in the United States.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries and diagnostic submissions for as long as they are useful to the conversation they started, and we delete them when you ask us to.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect personal information, including encrypted devices and multi-factor authentication on the accounts that hold it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to stop contacting you, by writing to [email protected].

Children

This website is for businesses. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Review and changes

We review this policy at least once a year, and whenever the technology on this website changes, so that it keeps describing what the site actually does. When we change it, we post the revised policy here with a new effective date.
